An on-chain detective recently reported his findings implicating Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, in a major crypto theft that saw over $500 million worth of tokens disappear in 2016. These allegations suggest that Vitalik Buterin may have provided assets directly to those responsible for this theft at Gatecoin in 2016.
Buterin Ensnared in Controversy
One of the leading experts in cryptocurrency investigation has made serious accusations against Buterin, implicating him in the devastating 2016 Gatecoin theft. It was noted that one source linked back to Buterin was found at the Ethereum Foundation; two more came from initial account and Vlad Zamfir was linked back as well, all suggesting there may have been some connection between Buterin, the Ethereum Foundation, and this massive theft.
These startling allegations emerge at a time when reports surfaced about the Ethereum Foundation approaching financial insolvency, cast into further suspicion by its close proximity to another major crypto scandal like DAO exploit. Yet neither Buterin or the Ethereum Foundation has come forward with any statements in response to these serious claims.
Further Scrutiny on Silk Road’s Bitcoin
Investigators also shed light on how confiscated Bitcoin from Silk Road may have funded Ethereum’s initial coin offering (ICO) and contributed to its foundation development. They criticised Buterin for failing to advocate for Ross Ulbricht, founder of Silk Road, despite using his assets to form Ethereum despite potential concerns that his release might compromise her moral standing within crypto community.
These allegations cast serious doubt upon Ethereum’s foundational moments and call into question ethical considerations at play in its early days of evolution. Now the crypto world awaits any updates or responses from those implicated.
